What is it & How Does it Help ?

Sports & Remedial Massage was developed to help athletes prepare there bodies for optimal performance however, it is now regularly used to treat conditions that have been created by everyday lifestyle such as back pain, repetitive strain injury and many others. It is a deep tissue massage to create the conditions for the body’s return to health after injury. It aids in the removal of blockages, damaged cells, scar tissue and adhesion's left after injury, speeds up recovery and encourages healing.

The variety of techniques used are designed to increase the flow of blood and lymph around the body and to re-establish the proper neuromuscular function particularly in the injured areas. This enables the body to heal and is often successful where other forms of treatment have failed. Many patients feel a difference after 1 treatment and certainly within 3 sessions a big improvement can often be seen.

With many years’ experience the practitioner gains a clear understanding of treating sports and traumatic injuries. They will work with patients while they increase their activity levels back to normal. Remedial Massage has particular success with long-standing back and compound injuries that have resisted previous treatment attempts.

Sportsmen and women attend regularly to ensure that  small injuries are treated before they reduce performance however it is equally effective for non-sports people. Some common conditions that can be successfully treated are:

• Achilles Injuries • Tendinitis • Shin Splints • Groin Strain • Cartilage damage • Tennis Elbow • Frozen Shoulder • Hamstring Injuries • Plantar Fasciitis • Scar tissue • Adhesions • Whiplash • Carpal Tunnel Syndrome • Repetitive Strain Injury

Sports Massage is an unusual form of massage in that it does not intentionally set out to relax the patient, the intention is more to fix a mechanical problem. In Some cases all-round health improvement is seen, better sleep, increase in vitality and performance levels, as well as increased mobility.
